Every Day Family Photography

About

I have always loved photography!! I got my first camera in Junior High and it went on every family trip we ever took. I loved nature scenes and the ocean. My childhood memories all come from photographs that I can still  see in my “mind’s eye”.

I took my first photography class right before I graduated from high school. It was a black and white film class and it solidified my love for photography!!!

Once married my challenge became getting myself and my husband in those shots. I got “MacGyverish” in how I would set up the camera and run like mad to the beautiful bridge where my husband was holding his arm out into the air waiting for me. =) I got really fast and it was fun racing the self-timer =)

As my husband and I traveled more I fell in love with architectural photography. There was less and less of us and more and more of doorways, stairwells, and repeating patterns.

Then we started having kids…and the frustration of camera equipment began =) By then we had a digital camera which saved us money for diapers =)  but those kids are ever moving, laughing, jumping and no point and shoot camera could capture the moment as I saw it.

In 2007 and 2008 I worked with Phoenix Revolutions doing wedding photography. I had the privilege of using company cameras, lenses and flashes and my wish list began=) I enjoyed the high stress of capturing the moment with no do-overs. I always preferred the candid photos over the posed ones. I found myself gravitating towards the families gathering at the reception or the cute ring bearer and flower girl dancing under the disco ball =).

In January 2010 I was given an incredible gift from God!!! The digital SLR I had purchased for my birthday just 2 months prior died =) I had aspirations of taking photos of my friends and family and still be home with my precious family. As I did some soul searching as to whether this would happen now that my equipment had failed, God brought an anonymous family from a mom’s group I was a part of and they purchased a NEW DSLR camera and related equipment for me. Needless to say I was speechless!! To me that was a big GO FOR IT from God =)

And that leads us to today!! With my passion for families and love for kids I look forward to capturing your priceless moments and creating irreplaceable memories!!
