FAQs

Q: What should we wear for our photo shoot?

A: It is best to  be in coordinating colors- you can match with white shirts and jeans or you can have the kids in matching outfits or differents shades of browns, blues and even blacks and reds. Everyone can wear a different bold color for example: red, green, yellow, purple and then everyone in jeans.  Stay away from patterns and big shirt decals for the best photos. For newborn shoots a white onsie or light color is best. See photos below for outfit ideas.

Q: Where will we shoot?

A: Pick a place that your family frequently visits, like a special park or playground. Pictures at home work well if you have a large open family room or stairs and natural lighting. If you need recommendations I have several local areas to suggest.

Q: How will we pose?

A: If you want a posed family photo I will  help arrange your family. If you are interested in a more photojournalistic style I will be more in the background taking pictures as you all engage in a family activity.  See examples for poses below.

Q: How should we prep our young kids for the photo shoot?

A:  Practice before hand. Let them know that your family will be having their picture taken. Turn it into a game of who can smile the biggest and sit still the longest- then give a reward. Make sure to bring a reward/bribe the day of pictures. You can let them have a sucker in between posed shots or promise to take them out for ice cream- something special you don’t do everyday.

Q: When is the best time for a photo shoot with babies?

A: Newborns keep the precious curled position for only about 2 weeks. So book the newborn photo shoot in your 8th month!

Q: When is the best time for a photo shoot with young children?

A: After eating, not right before nap and earlier rather than later in the day =) You know your child best!

Q: What should we bring to our photo shoot?

A: If you have young children bring a stroller and  snacks!! If it is cool outside  bring jackets and even a blanket. If it has recently rained bring a towel or old sheet to sit on. Feel free to bring a change of clothes.

Q: How long is the photo shoot?

A: Between an hour and hour and a half.
